Important Notice for New York City Establishments
New York City has a unique requirement: NYC food service establishments must have a supervisor holding a NYC Food Protection Certificate issued by the NYC Department of Health (per NYC Health Code § 81.15). While ServSafe® Manager Certification is highly valuable and often required in addition, it does not substitute for the NYC-specific certificate within the five boroughs. NYC restaurant managers should complete both.
States Requiring CFPM by County (No State Law)
In these states, CFPM is not statewide-mandated but is required by many counties and cities. Our ServSafe® Manager Certification is accepted in jurisdictions that require an ANSI-CFP accredited certification:
Arizona • Maryland (partially) • Missouri • Nebraska • Nevada • North Dakota • Oklahoma • South Carolina • Wyoming
Important: This overview is provided for general reference only. Food safety certification requirements vary by state, county, and city, and change frequently. Before enrolling, verify with your local health department that our ANAB-Accredited ServSafe® Manager Certification satisfies your specific jurisdiction’s requirements. Renewal periods and any state-specific additional requirements are the sole responsibility of the certificate holder.
